Discover Wallonia like never before! Here are three places that are perfect as a starting point to begin your exploration and enjoy great moments with friends and/or family.
Wallonia offers countless beautiful places to explore, with authentic cities and villages, each with its own unique character. Whether you are looking for a city escape, outdoor adventure, or immersion in nature, Wallonia has something for everyone. These three must-visit destinations are the ideal starting point to explore this rich and diverse region of Belgium.

1. Durbuy
Did you know that Durbuy is the smallest city in the world? Spend a day or two exploring this charming town. Visit the Castle of the Counts of Ursel and wander through the cobbled streets of Durbuy. Adventure lovers should not miss Adventure Valley Durbuy, where a wide range of activities are available, including rope courses, kayaking on the Ourthe, and much more. You can also shop in trendy boutiques in the town center, find your way through the Labyrinth of Durbuy (open in summer), or visit DHAM (Durbuy History and Art Museum). Whether you're traveling with family or friends, Durbuy promises plenty of fun.
2. The Coo Waterfalls
About an hour’s drive from Durbuy, you can admire the beautiful Coo Waterfalls, the highest waterfalls in Belgium at 15 meters. It is also an ideal starting point for walks and hikes. For those who prefer a more relaxed experience, chairlifts take you to a viewpoint offering breathtaking panoramic views.
Younger visitors will enjoy the amusement park Plopsa Coo and Kayak Coo Adventure. Both are great places for families to have fun. If you want to recharge in nature, discover Wild Park Coo! Take a 40-minute train ride through a wildlife park and admire deer, wolves, wild boars, and many other animals in their natural environment.
3. Two Ourthes Natural Park
Be amazed by the beauty of the Two Ourthes Natural Park. This stunning area is part of the Rhenish Slate Massif and rests on the oldest rocks in Belgium. Covering 76,000 hectares, the park offers a variety of hills, deep valleys, dense and steep forests, as well as vast plateaus. There are numerous hiking trails of varying lengths and difficulty levels, and cycling enthusiasts can fully enjoy the park as well. The park includes six municipalities: Tenneville, Sainte-Ode, La Roche-en-Ardenne, Bertogne, Houffalize, and Gouvy, each with its own unique charm to discover.
4. Bonus: Walloon gastronomy
In addition to the beautiful nature and activities, some more sporty than others, we highly recommend tasting Walloon gastronomy. Discover regional dishes at the restaurant "Le Parc" in La Roche-en-Ardenne. Located less than an hour’s drive from the destinations mentioned above, this restaurant welcomes you in an elegant and authentic setting. Here, you can enjoy seasonal dishes that highlight local flavors for an unforgettable culinary experience.
